An open mic in Raleigh changed everything.
Born Latisha Martin in Louisburg, NC, Mou'La began singing and drumming in church at age three. She studied music at St. Augustine's College, but the night the crowd at Zydeco's in Raleigh responded to her on stage in 2009 marked the turning point — the moment a lifelong calling became a serious pursuit.
